Our team of experts advise funders and borrowers on both purpose driven products which are specifically tailored to finance ESG projects and loans incentivising change linking interest rate discounts to sustainability performance metrics. Our recent work in this sector includes: 

  • Advising Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Whai Rawa on the implementation of a social loan to support the development of homes for whānau to own and to assist whānau into home ownership which was recently recognised as a finalist at the annual finance industry INFINZ awards;
  • Acting for the lenders and sustainability coordinators on the conversion of Waste Management NZ’s $1.1 billion facilities into sustainability linked loans which include targets aligned with a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, an increase in the amount of recyclable materials recovered and dedicated training for all staff with regard to climate change and the circular economy;   
  • Advising Northpower on a new green facility provided by ANZ for the development of a solar farm which will improve energy supply and resilience in Northland; and
  • Acting for ASB and Westpac with regard to development funding provided to Mansons for the construction of a new 6 star green star office building in central Auckland.
