Christine Gordon

Christine is a construction lawyer, having honed her craft at leading firms in New Zealand and London.
Christine advises a broad range of construction parties from principals, contractors and sub-contractors to consultants and insurers on issues arising both during and after construction. She has experience with New Zealand and international forms of construction contracts and consultancy services agreements.
Christine is regularly instructed to advise on the contractual arrangements for infrastructure projects.
Christine’s experience extends to acting for parties in resolving complex and high value construction disputes in court, arbitration, mediation, adjudication, expert determination and other dispute resolution forums.
Christine is a member of the Society of Construction Law and the Auckland Women Lawyers’ Association.

Advising Watercare on its $3.5 billion investment in proactive network renewals via its Asset Upgrades and Renewals Framework.
Advising Watercare on its Capital Delivery Framework to deliver its capital works programme.
Advising Clutha District Council on its long-term Waters Maintenance Services Contract.
Roading infrastructure
Advising the New Zealand Transport Agency on its multi-billion-dollar Integrated Delivery Model for delivery of its 10-year Asset and Network Management Programme across New Zealand.
Vertical infrastructure
Advising NZ Strong on its high-profile Hangar 4 project (the world’s largest single span timber arch aircraft hangar) at Auckland Airport.
Advising various public sector clients on panel agreements for Consultants based on the CCCS Conditions of Contract.
Contentious construction (‘back end)
Acting for a large retirement village operator in complex and high value proceedings relating to defective construction materials against an ASX listed defendant with entities in New Zealand, Australia and the Republic of Ireland. Christine worked with several leading New Zealand King's Counsel and appeared regularly in the High Court and Court of Appeal.
Acting for Auckland Council in multi-million dollar claims in the High Court relating to defective buildings.
Acting for an engineering firm in proceedings before the Technology and Construction Court regarding the design of the Bloomberg offices in central London.
Acting for a joint venture (comprising two major UK contractors) on claims relating to the design of Nitrifying Trickling Filters in several wastewater treatment works in the North of England.
Acting for a contractor regarding liability for alleged defects in steel bolts after completion of The Leadenhall Building (known as “the Cheesegrater”), a major London skyscraper.
Acting for local authority clients on delay and disruption claims and defective design claims.
Acting in adjudications under both the Construction Contracts Act 2002 (NZ) and the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 (UK).
Construction insurance
Advising insurers, and developers, on claims relating to ACM cladding on several high-rise residential and student-accommodation buildings following the 2017 Grenfell Tower Fire in London.
Advising London insurers on claims relating to design liability in a flare system for an oil field in Abu Dhabi.
Property disputes
Advising lessees on rent review arbitrations relating to commercial properties in central Auckland and the Hawkes Bay.
