Hugh Lindo

Hugh heads our Christchurch office. He advises on a wide range of commercial and private client matters, specialising in corporate structuring and governance, business transactions and advisory, overseas investment, commercial property, and trust law.
Reflecting his wide and varied commercial experience in Christchurch and the Canterbury region, Hugh provides timely and pragmatic advice to a diverse range of large and medium organisations operating across a variety of sectors, including: health, educational, agri-business, technology, infrastructure, and commercial property.
In addition to his corporate advisory practice, Hugh also has a depth of experience in advising private clients in relation to their asset planning and is considered to be one of New Zealand’s leading experts in trust and succession law.
Hugh is engaging, pragmatic and always helps his clients to be strategic where possible. He is able to break-down complex legal issues and is seen as a trusted advisor by his clients.
Hugh is currently the Board Chair of Christ's College, Canterbury and is independent Chair of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu’s Te Whakaue remuneration committee.
He is past-President of the Canterbury Employers Chamber of Commerce and has held a number of other governance positions over the years. He is a member of the Institute of Directors and is dual qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales.
