Catherine Shipton

Catherine specialises in corporate and financing transactions, with a particular focus in the infrastructure, energy and renewables sectors.
Catherine advises on all aspects of corporate law, governance and overseas investment in New Zealand.
She has a wide range of domestic and international experience (in both corporate and banking), including acting on complex M&A transactions as well as greenfield infrastructure projects.
She has acted for a variety of clients, including private equity, insurance funds, pension funds, superannuation funds, corporates, government entities, investment banks and institutional debt providers.
Catherine spent six years working at “magic circle” firm Allen & Overy LLP in London before joining Simpson Grierson. She also worked at another leading law firm in New Zealand earlier in her career and has spent time seconded to The Treasury New Zealand.
Catherine is a sub-committee member of Women in Finance INFINZ.
