We’re pleased to announce that Anita Birkinshaw and Rob Macredie have been appointed as our new special counsel!

Anita (commercial litigation) and Rob (commercial) are both leading legal specialists who have a depth of international experience gained at top level firms across Australia, UK and Europe.

They are welcome additions to the leadership of our commercial litigation and commercial groups, and will be based in our Auckland office.

Anita Birkinshaw

Anita has over 20 years’ experience in litigation, arbitration and mediation in Aotearoa New Zealand and at leading international law firms in Paris and London. She specialises in complex dispute resolution, including in relation to contractual and tortious issues as well as regulatory and administrative proceedings.

She has particular experience in contentious intellectual property matters and regularly represents clients in disputes in this area, including in relation to claims of trade mark and copyright infringement, passing off and breach of the Fair Trading Act.

Rob Macredie

Rob is a corporate and commercial law specialist with expertise in advising clients across a range of industry sectors including healthcare, technology, financial services, resources and tourism. Prior to joining Simpson Grierson, Rob worked at several top international firms including Baker McKenzie and Herbert Smith Freehills (Aus) and Ogier (UK). 

Rob’s areas of expertise include advising private and public companies on: M&A, private equity transactions, joint venture arrangements, foreign investment regulation, corporate governance, cross-border transactions, and offshore investment structures.
